1960s: birth of the Université de Picardie

In the early 60s, Amiens was home to four pre-university structures: a national school of medicine and pharmacy, a law school, a university science college and a school of literature. However, these establishments did not offer the full range of study courses, forcing young Amiens residents wishing to follow a complete course to leave the region. The schools in Amiens fall under the jurisdiction of the Académie de Lille.
