CURAPP-ESS UMR 7319
Director: Rémy Caveng

CURAPP, the Centre Universitaire de Recherches Administratives et Politiques de Picardie (Academic Center for Administrative and Political Research) was created in 1971, in the Faculty of Political Sciences, Social Sciences and Law in Amiens. It was connected to the CNRS (National Center for Scientific Research) as UMR (Research Unit) n° 7319 in 1982, and belongs to sections 40 (Politics, power, organization), 36 (Sociology, norms and rules) and 35 (Philosophy, History of Thought, Text Sciences, History, and Theories of Literatures and Arts). The CURAPP team is composed of academic researchers, CNRS researchers, doctoral students and support staff, in Political Science, Law, Educational Sciences, Sociology and Philosophy. Their collaboration results in an open-minded and dynamic research activity. CURAPP evolved into CURAPP-ESS, the Centre Universitaire de Recherches sur l’Action publique et le Politique, Epistémologie et Sciences Sociales (Academic Center for Research on Public Action, Politics, Epistemology and Social Sciences), which originally studied the functions of State in contemporary societies, and now covers a broad field of topics in political and social studies, ranging from the scales of political action (from local to global) to the forms of politicization or the production and usages of knowledge and norms.
