The 19th Annual Meeting of the Teaching and Research network in Neurosciences of the Northwest (LARC-Neuroscience Network)

Introduction...

Presentation

The 19th Annual Meeting of the Teaching and Research network in Neurosci-ences of the Northwest (LARC-Neuroscience Network) will take place on Friday, November 13th, 2015 in Amiens.

Organised by Prof Mickael NAASSILA, Prof Olivier PIERREFICHE (INSERM ERi 24) and their colleagues, this symposium will be held at the Institut de Formation en Soins Infirmiers - IFSI (University Hospital South Amiens - CHU Sud).

The LARC-Neurosciences Network

The Network of cooperation in neurosciences, from the Channel area, designated by the acronym "LARC-Neuroscience Network", is a federation of 58 research teams in Neurobiology from Universities of Nijmegen (NL), Leuven (B), Portsmouth (UK), Lille, Amiens, Rouen, Caen, Rennes, Brest, Nantes and Paris region.

The LARC-Neuroscience Network relies on three complementary research IBiSA platforms: the Regional Research Platform in Cellular Imaging of High-Normandy (PRIMACEN), the Research Platform in in vivo Imaging from the Cyceron Center and the Instrumental Platform in Analytical and Separatibe Sciences.
The federation of these three platforms, which is currently planned, will provide a unique infrastructure for our research teams in Neuroscience.

Lectures, Prizes

The meeting will include two plenary lectures presented by Dr Florence NOBLE (Université Paris Descartes) on « The pharmacological link between two neuropeptides, cholecystokinin and enkephalins. Evidences in models of pain and pharmacodependence in rodents » and by Dr Philippe Faure "Nicotinic modulation of dopaminergic system: role in nicotine addiction". »

The event will also include 12 oral presentations by young researchers working in different laboratories of the network. There will be a poster display session and networking opportunities.

Prizes will be awarded for the best oral and poster presentations.

education

In terms of education, the LARC-Neuroscience Network is one of the main thrusts of the Master in Biomedical Sciences from Rouen and Caen, and of the Norman Graduate School in Integrative Biology, Health & Environment (EdNBISE). Internships abroad are available to students through the ERASMUS / SOCRATES agreements and the 'Students Without Borders' program from the High-Normandy Region.

research

In terms of research, teams from the LARC-Neuroscience Network pursue an intense collaboration, focused on two major themes (i.e. neuroendocrinology /new neuropeptides and aging / neurodegenerative diseases /stroke /neuronal death), which is materialize over the last 4 years by 140 joint publications from at least two teams of the Network, some of which have appeared in leading journals (i.e. Science, P.N.A.S., Endocrinology, J. Cerebral. Blood Flow Metab., J. Neurochem., J. Neurosci. Res., Neurosciences, J. Comp. Neurol., …).

History

Each year, one of the teams of the network organizes, usually in October, the Scientific Meeting of the LARC-Neuroscience network.

• The 13th Scientific Meeting occurred on October 30th, 2009, in Caen,
• The 14th Scientific Meeting occurred on October 29th, 2010, in Lille,
• The 15th Scientific Meeting occurred on October 28th, 2011, in Rennes,
• The 16th Scientific Meeting occurred on November 9th, 2012, in Portsmouth,
• The 17th Scientific Meeting occurred on October 25th, 2013, in Rouen,
• The 18th Scientific Meeting occurred on October 7th, 2014, in Caen.

Since the integration of English teams in the LARC-Neuroscience Network, our Scientific Meetings are organized entirely in English, which is an excellent training for our Doctoral Students.
