The first cycle is composed of two years general scientific training. Admission is on qualifications, the student must have the 'bac' or an equivalent diploma. There is a competitive exam at the end of the first year allowing students to continue, and places are limited.
Students may re-take the first year one time only. Should they fail, it is possible to change course and take a different degree (equivalence possible with the first year of the Life Science degree).
At the end of the first year, medical students (or sports students) at the UPJV will be able to apply for admission to the Institute of Phisiotherapy in Amiens. Entry is not subject to a competitive exam (an experiment for 3 years).
This is a two-year extension of the 1st cycle and is compulsory for admission on the 3rd cycle. There is no particular qualification at the end of this cycle.
In the 3rd cycle students may choose from two channels :
the short 3rd cycle for 2 years leading to a national diploma.
the extended 3rd cycle for 4 to 5 years, admission on exam results (entrance exam for hospital work) and leading to a DES diploma (Diplôme d'Etudes Specialisées).
